July 22-26 Mystery at Spencer Shops Summer Day Camp. Rising sixth, seventh, and eighth graders can reconstruct a crime scene, uncover evidence, and present a case in front of a panel of judges. A mock trial and awards ceremony will take place on the last day, and parents are invited!

August 2 100th Anniversary of the Ford Model T. We want 100 Model T's on display, so bring out your T! All Fords welcome. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

August 30 Mopar Car Show. The Plymouth Car Club will display all kinds of Mopar vehicles. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

September 5 Fall Home School Day. A special day for home school groups to explore the museum through workshops and guided tours. Reservations required. Call 704-636-2889, toll free at 877-NCTM-FUN, or visit www.nctrans.org.

September 26-28, October 3-5 Day Out With Thomas™ (fee, tickets required). Take a 25-minute train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine™, a real steam locomotive. Meet Sir Topham Hatt™, see a magician show, play in bounce castles, get a temporary tattoo, and much more. Model train layouts, live railroad music and a Caboose Train are part of the fun. October 18 Antique Automobile Club of America Show. Members of the Furnitureland Chapter of the AACA will display classic cars of all makes and models. 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

October 25 Pumpkin Patch Express. Ride the train with friendly ghosts and witches, as they pass out Halloween treats. Then visit the Pumpkin Patch Fair at the Roundhouse for Halloween games, goodies, coloring, sidewalk chalk and bubbles. Fee charged. Advance tickets available online. November 7-9 Rail Camp Boy Scout Weekend. Boy Scout troops camp out at the museum for the weekend, learn about the railroad in North Carolina and earn their Railroading Merit Badge. November 26 Spencer/Salisbury Holiday Caravan Parade. The parade starts at 2 p.m., and the street in front of the museum is closed down. Vehicles will be unable to enter or exit the museum from 1- 5 p.m. due to the parade procession. No train rides offered this day.

November 28 Museum reopens on normal schedule. Special "Day After Thanksgiving" Train rides running at 11 a.m., 1, 2, and 3 p.m.

December 2-5, 9-12 Jingle Bell Express. Children sing Christmas carols, play jingle bells and hear readings of Christmas stories while riding the museum's on-site train during this event for school and other children's groups. December 5-6, 12-13 Cookies & Cocoa with Santa.Take an evening train ride to the Roundhouse and enjoy a treat with Santa, and hear Christmas stories read by one of Santa's helpers. December 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 Santa Train. Santa rides the train, passing out oranges and candy canes, a Southern Railway tradition. Storytelling of classic Christmas tales and an ornament-making activity are also part of the fun. Fee charged. Advance tickets available online. December 27-30 "Winter Fever" Train Rides. The museum will re-open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday and Monday-Tuesday, with train rides running at 11 a.m., 1, 2, and 3 p.m.; and 1-4 p.m.; and on Sunday, with rides at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.
