Annual special events include the April 12 celebration of Halifax Day, commemorating the date of the Halifax Resolves in 1776, the first official declaration of independence made by any colony! (This date is on the North Carolina state flag). Christmas is celebrated at Halifax on the second Saturday in December. Several of the historic homes are decorated with natural arrangements and greenery. The town also joins in with the Christmas celebration. Throughout the year, the site works in conjunction with local groups and the town of Halifax, to present special events for visitors.
