MERCHANDISE

Through the generosity of artist Lenore DePree of West Jefferson, North Carolina, several items have been made available for sale to benefit the North Carolina State Capitol, a National Historic Landmark.

During ten years in the Middle East, DePree studied 15th-17th-century Persian art. Upon returning to the United States DePree felt that this style, with its perfectly balanced forms and vibrant colors, would be the ideal vehicle for expressing the grace of the North Carolina State Capitol. (Image above).

The classic architecture, formal gardens, statuary, stately old trees, famous fountains, and crowned dome are all faithfully rendered. In addition to these authentic details, there is also a joyful spirit of life. From people enjoying Capitol Square to the birds, squirrels, and blooming dogwoods and azaleas, the artist has captured the Spirit of the Capitol.

All proceeds from this reproduction will go directly to the State Capitol Foundation, Inc., to assist in its continuing support of education and preservation programs at this grand historic building.
