CALLING ALL CIVIL WAR REENACTORS!

Bennett Place State Historic Site in Durham is looking for volunteers interested in joining a new group of reenactors to help with special events, lectures, demonstrations and public general tours of this Civil War site. Military and civilian reenactors willing to commit to working three main events presented in April, October, and December are needed.

In addition, staff would warmly welcome and could assist in planning other events/programs created by the group such as demonstrations of period life skills and crafts, lectures, reenactor training, and appearances in costume/uniform during regular visitation. Previous experience is not required but is helpful. Volunteers will need to provided their own costumes but site staff can help steer them to the proper sources. This program is open to all ages and is a great opportunity for families to spend time together doing a highly unique activity that will also enable one to learn more about the Civil War period in North Carolina history.

If you or your family is interested, please fill out a volunteer application for each volunteer, specify that you are interested in re-enacting, and describe any experience that you may have had with reenacting.
