Bennett Place School Group Registration Guidelines
The Bennett Place State Historic Site welcomes school groups throughout the academic year. We strive to provide an insightful, positive, and educational experience for all students.
Because of the physical size of our buildings, we do however have certain group limitations. Our audiovisual room seats a maximum of 50. In addition, the rooms in the historic buildings are quite small. For students to properly see the artifacts being discussed, we must limit building occupany to 20 students at a time.
Because of these limitations, the Bennett Place has created the following school group guidelines:
- School groups of up to 60 will be permitted at one time. Larger groups can be accommodated with staggered arrival times, over a period of several days. We can only accomodate up to 120 students per day.
- We put aside approximately 1-1/2 hours to give a tour to a group of 40 or fewer, with an additional 45 minutes for larger groups. This time period allows schoolkids to enjoy the audiovisual program, view the museum, tour the historic buildings, and make purchases at the sales desk.
- We offer special activities to student groups upon request at the time the reservation is made. A limit of one activity per group is necessary. Activities add ½ hour to visit length. Please contact the site for more information.
- Because we have a limited staff and must schedule additional help, we require two weeks notice of your visit.
- Once scheduled, you will receive a confirmation form to fill out and return to us. If we do not receive your confirmation form, we may have to assign your time slot to another group.
- We require one chaperone for every ten students. The conduct of the students is the respective chaperones' responsibility. Unruly groups may not be able to complete their visit to the site.
- If your group is running late, we ask that you contact the site immediately. There may be another group scheduled after yours, which will result in a time conflict. Rescheduling may be necessary.
- Upon arrival to the site, all students are to remain outside while one group leader registers in the visitor center.
